Comprehensive Brake Repair Services
We provide a full range of auto brake repair services to ensure your vehicle performs at its best. Our services include:
Anti-Lock Brake System
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) ensures your wheels keep rotating during braking, preventing skidding and providing better control. If your ABS light illuminates, visit A & E Auto Repair for a diagnosis and professional brake repair.
Brake Fluid Flushes
Brake fluid can absorb moisture from the air over time, diminishing brake effectiveness and becoming corrosive, potentially harming the system. Regular brake fluid flushes are vital to ensure fresh fluid usage in your vehicle. Consult our technicians to determine the right time for a brake fluid flush.
Brake Hoses
A brake hose carries pressurized brake fluid from the master cylinder to the brakes. A damaged hose can lead to delayed or weak braking, and a leak may result in brake failure. While the need for a replacement brake hose isn't common, any signs of cracking or wear should prompt immediate replacement.
Brake Pad & Shoe Replacement
Squealing brakes often indicate brake pad issues. When brake pads deteriorate completely, a harsh metal-on-metal grinding noise occurs during braking, indicating potential rotor or drum damage. Although experienced individuals may attempt home repairs, if you have brake concerns, it's best to consult an auto repair professional promptly in order to receive the highest quality auto brake repair.
Caliper Replacement
The brake caliper houses brake pads and clamps around the rotor to apply pressure during braking. Caliper problems can cause uneven braking, leading to skidding during braking and loss of control in adverse weather conditions. Contact A & E Auto Repair in Port Charlotte at your earliest convenience for assistance.
Signs of Bad Brakes in Port Charlotte
Your brakes are one of the most important safety features of your vehicle, and staying alert to potential issues is keyespecially when driving through busy areas in Port Charlotte. Knowing what to watch for can help you avoid unexpected breakdowns and costly repairs.
High-Pitched Squealing
A squealing noise is often an early indicator that your brake pads are wearing down. Addressing this early can help prevent damage to other components.
Shaking Steering Wheel When Braking
If your steering wheel shakes when you apply the brakes, it may be a sign of uneven rotor wear. This can affect both comfort and control while driving.
Longer Stopping Distances
If your vehicle doesn’t stop as quickly as it should, it’s a clear sign your braking system needs attention. This can be dangerous in high-traffic situations.
Visible Wear on Brake Components
In some cases, you may be able to see worn brake pads or damaged rotors through your wheels. If anything looks worn or uneven, it’s best to have it inspected.

Auto Brake Repair FAQs
Hopefully we can help answer some brake repair related questions you may have:
Why Are my Brakes Making a Grinding Noise?
A grinding sound from your brakes often signals that they're severely worn and require immediate attention. This noise typically means the brake pads have worn down to the rotors.
Why Are my Brakes Squeaking?
Squeaking brakes can result from small stones or debris caught in the pads, or it may indicate that the pads are wearing thin. It's a sign that your brakes might need inspection or replacement.
Why are my brakes making a burning smell?
A burning smell from your brakes can occur if they overheat from excessive use. If you notice a chemical odor or smoke, pull over safely and allow the brakes to cool to avoid further damage.
Why Are My Brakes Vibrating?
Vibration when braking usually points to an issue with uneven rotor surfaces. Over time, rotors can wear unevenly, causing vibrations through the steering wheel when you apply the brakes.
How Do You Repair a Sticking Brake Caliper?
A sticking brake caliper can cause uneven braking, poor fuel efficiency, or even serious damage if ignored. The repair typically involves inspecting the caliper slides and pins for corrosion, cleaning or replacing them as needed, and ensuring proper lubrication. In some cases, the entire caliper may need to be rebuilt or replaced-especially if the piston is seized or the rubber boot is torn.
While some experienced DIYers might attempt this at home, brake system repairs are best left to trained professionals to ensure your safety. If your brakes feel off or you suspect a caliper issue, stop by A & E Auto Repair so our technicians can take a look and get you safely back on the road.

Brakes, near Port Charlotte, FloridaFrom start to finish, Marco and his team at A&E Auto Repair were a God send. When my fiancée and I first started calling around the area to seek help with a repair, I wasn't met with such kindness and professionalism... until I called A&E. The woman who I spoke with on the phone (I wish I could remember her name) was very personable and reassuring, a breath of fresh air. She said that the staff at A&E never keeps their customers in the dark about prices, options, and the diagnoses of their cars. That proved true, and then some! I explained what issues I had been experiencing with the car, and recieved a call back from Marco within the hour! He was able to squeeze me in, same day, to start the diagnosis despite having a full schedule. He was very honest about the condition of my car, which was not great. I knew it might have been bad, as I had to put it off for quite a while after running into some financial difficulty this past year. Marco truly cared about getting me back on the road, and safely, ASAP. The repair was priced very reasonably, but my fiancé and I were unfortunatley going to have to put it off until a future date. Marco and his wife blessed us beyond belief.. and mentioned the work that they do with the non-profit, Autos 4 The Needy. They truly lent a hand in such a difficult and stressful time... and now we can focus on working, catching up, and preparing for the wedding this year! If you are looking for a locally owned auto shop that truly cares- about your car and beyond-this is the place. We felt welcomed from start to finish, and I had no idea that we would be met with such grace, compassion, and assistance when we felt defeated. Truly the best experience at any auto repair shop that we have had! Thank you so much Marco, your wonderful wife, and the knowledgeable employees! My car drives smoothly now, and our stress has been lifted. This place is a local gem, and it was such an eye opener that there are still amazing, reliable, and family oriented businesses in our community. Top tier customer service, integrity, and compassion. A&E Auto Repair is the only spot we'll be visiting for future services, and we are so happy to have found them! -Hudson & Toni

Brakes, near Port Charlotte, Georgia Stopped in this shop with a bad problem with my brakes, I was in town to visit my brother and his family discovered a major issue with my front brakes. The young girl who took all my information was extremely well versed with the knowledge of what I needed and the importance of this repair as I was about to head home to Georgia, a ten hour journey. I was able to talk with the mechanic personally and that the repair would get me home safely. I was extremely happy with both the customer service and the repair service. Jeep ran great all the way with no problems at all. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone. I also met the owners extremely nice people, even gave my niece and myself tee shirts with the company logo. If I lived in Port Charlotte this would be my go to repair shop.
